Vaseretic (enalapril and hydrochlorothiazide) is a combination medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It combines two powerful ingredients: enalapril, an ACE inhibitor that relaxes blood vessels, and hydrochlorothiazide, a diuretic that helps remove excess fluid from the body. Together, they work to lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and other cardiovascular complications.
Uses and Dosage
Take this medication orally, with or without food, as directed by your doctor, usually once daily. If taken too close to bedtime, it may lead to an increased need to wake up for urination. For optimal results, it’s recommended to take this medication at least 4 hours before bedtime.
If you are concurrently using cholestyramine or colestipol, ensure a time gap of at least 4 hours before or after taking enalapril/hydrochlorothiazide in relation to these medications.
The dosage is determined by your medical condition and response to treatment. Take this medication consistently at the same time each day to maximize its benefits. It may take several weeks before experiencing the full advantages of this medication. Continue taking it even if you feel well, as high blood pressure often presents no noticeable symptoms.
